Course Description

โ€œ Vedic mathematics is the science and technology of precision and order, which maintains the integrity of unity and at the same time spreads diversity with it. โ€

Abacus and Vedic Maths โ€” two powerful systems that help improve mental math, calculation speed, and concentration.

๐Ÿงฎ 1. Abacus

๐Ÿ”น What is an Abacus?

An Abacus is a simple counting tool with rods and beads, used for performing arithmetic calculations like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

It was used thousands of years ago in countries like China, Japan, and Greece, and is still taught today to develop mental math skills โ€” especially for children.

๐Ÿ”น How It Works

Each bead on the abacus represents a value (ones, tens, hundreds, etc.).
Students learn to move the beads to perform calculations.

With practice, they start to visualize the beads in their mind โ€” this is called mental abacus or visual calculation.

๐Ÿ”น Benefits of Abacus

โœ… Improves mental arithmetic
โœ… Enhances concentration and memory
โœ… Develops right-brain creativity and left-brain logic
โœ… Builds confidence in handling numbers
โœ… Helps kids develop photographic memory (visual imagination)

                                              ----------------------------000-------------------------------

๐Ÿง  2. Vedic Maths

๐Ÿ”น What is Vedic Maths?

Vedic Mathematics is an ancient Indian system of calculation derived from the Vedas (specifically the Atharva Veda).
It was rediscovered by Sri Bharati Krishna Tirthaji in the early 20th century.

It includes 16 Sutras (formulas) and 13 Sub-Sutras (sub-formulas) that make math faster and simpler.

๐Ÿ”น Examples of Vedic Maths Tricks

โž• Addition & Subtraction:

Do calculations mentally by using patterns and complements.

Example:
987 + 789 โ†’
(987 + 800) โ€“ 11 = 1776

โœ–๏ธ Multiplication (Nikhilam Sutra โ€“ โ€œAll from 9 and the last from 10โ€)

Example: Multiply 97 ร— 98
โ†’ Base = 100
โ†’ (97 ร— 98) = (97 โ€“ 2)(98 โ€“ 3) = 9,506

ยฒ Square of numbers ending in 5 (Formula: n ร— (n+1) and add 25)

Example: 35ยฒ = (3ร—4) & 25 = 1225

๐Ÿ”น Benefits of Vedic Maths

โœ… Increases calculation speed (5โ€“10 times faster)
โœ… Builds mental agility and focus
โœ… Reduces math anxiety
โœ… Helps in competitive exams and mental calculation contests
โœ… Improves memory and logical thinking

๐Ÿ Conclusion

  • Abacus builds strong foundation and concentration for young learners.
  • Vedic Maths enhances mental speed and accuracy โ€” ideal for older students and adults.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Together, they form a powerful combo for mastering numbers and brain development.
